When we hear the words ‘core strength’, most of us immediately think of 6 pack abs. There’s a lot more to core strength than wanting to look good in a bikini, though!
When we have a strong core it helps maintain several key body systems, which can boost our health in multiple ways…
…including preventing injuries, helping keep our internal organs in their ideal position (which helps each part of our digestion, plus our hormonal and reproductive systems), protects our central nervous system, can significantly reduce back + pelvic pain and help prevent them happening in the future, and make a big difference with our posture.
Sound a little far-fetched for a few muscles that aren’t even visible from the outside? Let me explain. Think of your body like as being a bit like a sausage-shaped water-balloon – so like a long container that’s filled with fluid. Weird I know – stick with me though! When we press one side of the balloon, the whole thing (including what’s inside) tends to squidge out of shape. Now imagine that the balloon has a stronger covering – so it’s more like one of those punch bags at the gym. When we press on the side of that punch bag – it doesn’t get moved out of shape. And so the contents pretty much stay the same.
When we strengthen our core muscles – it’s like moving from the squidgy balloon to the non-deformable punch bag. Basically this is the reason so many of our body systems are both protected and enhanced.
And this is why you need to check out my latest video with my 5 core exercises. Your digestive, respiratory, musculo-skeletal, postural, reproductive and nervous systems will thank you for it.
Oh, and did I mention they take just 4 minutes?
