I’m inspired to share Kate’s story.
Kate’s been a dear friend of mine for over 35 years; she’s a courageous lady who’s been living with several significant health challenges for a number of years.
We started working together on her LifeStyle Alignment about a year ago, and I’m thrilled to report that after about the 3-month mark of following the health routine we designed for her, she noticed significant improvements. And this is from making several, simple, small tweaks.
She’s now experiencing increased energy, which she’s finding super-valuable as a busy mum and active community member. Her blood sugar and insulin levels have stabilized, which are major milestones for her health and well-being.
My heart literally sings to see my dear friend enjoying these improvements and claiming back her health – and it’s only just the beginning for her.
What is it that Kate’s been doing exactly? What are these small tweaks that have such impact? 1
First, we focused on Kate’s hydration levels. The value of drinking 1.5 – 2L of plain, filtered water per day is under-rated! Without it, our bodies can struggle to function optimally.
Second, we embraced macro nutrition – fine-tuning her skills of eating intuitively, rather than according to how she thinks she should. So here we’re talking about getting a sense for which foods we feel will serve our bodies best today.
Third, we assessed her micro nutrition – the vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals, and enzymes. The ‘little guys’ that do a lot of the work in terms of our health yet sadly aren’t in many of even the good, ‘healthy’ foods we eat these days. This is the reason that maintaining optimal micro-nutritional levels is such a critical step.
We also built simple exercise back into her schedule, in ways that work best for Kate and are activities she enjoys.
Plus, we added ‘Kate time’. Namely her inner-cup-filling time.
I’d love to hear about any health-steps you’ve taken and what kind of results you’ve noticed for yourself. I’ll see you online for this week’s #AliveWithFi when we’ll go deeper on these small tweaks.
1 In “Make Big Changes with Small Steps,” reviewed by J. Robinson, M.D., he talks about ‘micro-moments’ as a description for small steps. When we take small steps, we’re more likely to have long-term success. This builds positive habits, which ultimately bring noticeable results.
