It’s a no-brainer that any steps in the right direction have got to be good, and a beautiful illustration of this was my mid-Program check-in with Darrin, who’s been steadily focusing for the last few months on taking the steps to reach his health goals.
Darrin’s an international consultant strategist based out of Auckland, NZ. His schedule is already ‘full’ with his various commitments including family, work and a rigorous fitness program; however he’s ready to turn things around for the better by prioritizing his own health and well-being. His goals have included burning fat, increasing his energy and focus, and safely reducing the medications he takes (whilst working with his doctor).
I’m jazzed to report that he’s already made extraordinary progress towards his goals.
After consistently applying his specifically tailored nutritional and lifestyle adjustments for just a few months, he’s the lightest he’s been in several years, and he’s gone from feeling like he was operating at 40% energy to 80 or 90% of his maximum. What’s so good about this is that he’s also finding that he’s able to sustain this energy even with the ups and downs of life.
Plus, he’s sleeping better, and his blood work shows his average blood sugar levels have dropped from between 11 – 13 to 7.5. He’s stoked, because this was his original target, and he’s reached it already.
He now has a new ‘normal’. He feels more rested and resilient and is more focused. Even colleagues have asked him what he’s been doing!
For Darrin – the results are showing on the inside and the outside. And they’re well deserved results too.
Like most of us, Darrin already knew that tiny changes create habits that lead to change, and he’s been chosing healthier food and fluid-options (instead of soda) even when he’s tired and in what he calls the ‘danger’ time of the day when it comes to foods. 1
The exciting part is that this is just the beginning.
Maybe this message resonates for you or someone you know who just needs the expert coaching and support to take their first steps. If it does, you’re welcome to message me.
Until then, see you on this week’s #AliveWithFi. Ciao for now
1Lao Tzu says that “the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” For many of us in today’s busy world, the first step in our health journey is committing to our own self-care. Because “self-care is an active and conscious choice to engage in activities that nourish us and help us maintain an optimal level of overall health”, and we deserve it.
