Like many of us, you may have the desire to be able to give back beyond covering your own needs. This has certainly been and continues to be a significant personal driver for me.
Can you relate?
I’d like to refer to a pivot that Chris and I have made recently, from having been pioneering our own foundation, to supporting an effective organisation that’s making a considerable positive difference. We’ve learned to be discerning about organisations we choose to donate to, as many are structured in a way that means part of the donations are needed to cover hidden costs including admin etc.
This was just one of the factors that has helped us select The Empowerment Project 1 which is run by good friends we’ve known since 2004, Clare and Chris Lindsay.
There are three main points that make this organisation different, that you might find useful to reference when you’re figuring out who to work with to be as effective as possible with your contribution.
The first one is that 100% of contributions received are guaranteed to reach the cause and go directly to those in need.
Big tick.
The second – admin is completely run by volunteers.
You have to love that!
And the third is that donors are given regular charity updates but are never asked to give more and are never chased to give more donations.
This third one is so refreshing. And very much the style of this extraordinary couple who are making a significant positive difference in the world through their efforts, plus helping people like us to be able to partner with them and contribute.
