I came across an interesting study that shows Australians are drinking alcohol more frequently during the COVID-19 pandemic than before, according to a new report from The Australian National University (ANU) 1

When it comes to this increased alcohol consumption, I’m not judging. Especially given that everyone’s situations pre, post and during COVID-19 are unique.

Although it has me ponder whether it’s worth asking ourselves what we expect or choose things to be like for us at the end of the lockdown periods?

And whether what we’re doing now can help us to move closer towards, or further away from our ideal scenario?

It’s easy for me to muse on this, in the sense that I haven’t been impacted to the extent that many people have been – both physically and financially. And I know it’s still going on for many people globally.

Regardless though, it makes sense to ask the ‘life-post-lockdown’ question because one truth I’ve found is that we get to choose our next move, every second of every day.

Let’s take an example – maybe I find myself not entirely impressed with the way that someone is responding to something I say or do.

Ultimately, it’s my choice to pause and decide how I respond (as long as I’m not in a life-threatening situation, of course). I get to consciously pause for a minute, especially given that the only thing I can control is what I do.

I think that there’s value in this approach that can be handy for many of us right now. Even when things are not how we’d want them to be, we can control what we do in response.2

Stay tuned, and we’ll go deeper on this topic during this week’s #AliveWithFi

Until I see you – keep sharing your sunshine 

2 In the face of less than ideal circumstance, it’s valuable to remember that “we can always, always choose our response. No matter the situation, no matter what happens to us, our reaction is 100% in our control.” The only thing that we get to control, is what we choose to do.
