This week we’re fortunate to hear from our resident Financial Health Coach, Chris Folland.
Understandably, Chris is receiving even more questions at the moment about viable ways to create an income from home, so here’s his take…
Did you have permission slips in school?
Since we’ve all been in lockdown, we’re seemingly in a limited supply of permission slips regarding the options we have moving forwards.
I was thinking about this and reflecting on what’s been my own education process (go to school to get a good job) and how this lockdown is a pause.
It’s like another major pause I experienced 20 years ago, although it wasn’t a lockdown – it was a knockdown when we were hit by a car crossing a main road on a pedestrian crossing, and took 6 months to recover.
The good that came out of it though was it gave us a bolt – a permission slip – to reinvent ourselves. And the permission slip from that knockdown set us up to be ready for this lockdown.
So, what do we need to do now?
The first and most important thing is for us to take care of our health. Making sure that we’re building our immune system is key. As you know, it’s crucial to wash our hands frequently and avoid touching our face. We also get to eat as many fruit and veggies as we can!
Plus of course, exercising, getting plenty of quality sleep and taking Nutritionals to boost our immune system.
Now, what about our financial health?
An important place to begin is with cutting our costs. The best advice I was given was to “get small.” 1
Plus, avoid things like taking a mortgage holiday right now (check out my upcoming blog on this very topic) – as you may be surprised with the numbers with this option.
Lastly, give yourself a permission slip to reinvent yourself. Looking for ways to work from home and build an income online, which can replace income and ideally gain new income, can be a game changer.
This is crucial because the upcoming economic impact will be longer than the lockdown itself.
Bringing it all together – no matter what happens in the future, take care of your health, be smart about your finances, and give yourself the permission to do something new so that you’re prepared moving forward.
Let me know if you’d like to talk about boosting your financial immune system or creating your permission slip – it’s always great to hear from you 😊
1 ‘Temporarily cutting expenses can be an act of necessity to pay your bills.’ It’s an ideal time to be flexible, smart, and resist panicking; plus, you might surprise yourself with what you can already do.
