Ever find yourself feeling puzzled, when you began with the best intentions to go for a run, and instead you found yourself on the sofa nibbling the particularly tasty morsel you found in the fridge?…
…the same tempting treat you hadn’t even noticed this morning, that suddenly became irresistible, for no apparent reason?
We all know our brains are amazing – although did you know that there’s a specific area of our brains that allows us to make that connection between what we know, and what we actually do? I didn’t, even though I’ve studied neuroanatomy.
Reading Malcolm Gladwell’s book ‘Blink’ recently, I picked up that an area of the prefrontal cortex of our brains, called ‘ventromedial’ makes this connection. Like many specific areas of our brains, this one was discovered in extreme cases where people’s brains were affected by some kind of trauma.
Fortunately – for those of us who find ourselves nibbling on the sofa, instead of striding out through the local park, all is not lost.
Working with many of my clients has shown that once the body biochemistry is balanced, and the new Healthy LifeStyle Habits are in place – then the patterns change.
We go from being mesmerized to not hugely fuss-ed about those chocolate chip cookies, gourmet savories or even the cream tea. It’s as though our circuitry’s been re-wired.
We know we’ve making progress when what turns on our taste buds actually changes too. What registers in our RAS (reticular activating system – think of it as our customizable filter) literally changes. We can go from salivating at doughnuts, to now noticing the low GI smoothees.
For those of you who’d like to be guided through the tested and proven keys to follow, to cut to the chase and finally pull the wool off your own eyes to get more of what you do want in your life – then the upcoming free audio is for you.
It could, quite simply, be your turning point. Where you take the driving rather than the back seat with your Healthy Lifestyle.
To make sure you get your complimentary copy of the audio, send me an email at fi@fijamiesonfolland.com with ‘Lifestyle – audio’ in the title, and you’ll be one of the first to receive yours when it’s out!
In the mean time – here’s your take away from today – get clear on your goal.
Grab your diary or journal – and write a note now of how your life will feel when you’re firmly in the driving seat. When you’ve kicked your carvings and feel good in your own skin – and put a date on when you’ll feel this way.
When you write it down – it’s one step closer to real.
