This is a veritable game-changer when it comes to living the lives we love.

And it’s great timing, given our theme, this week is conscious living, specifically in terms of giving back. I reckon that one of the most powerful ways to give back is to first give to ourselves because then we’re more able to help others.

It’s not so much some kind of a raise or bonus (although it could be!) It’s about how we can nourish ourselves on a regular and even moment-by-moment basis. 1

I really believe that the more that we honor, love, and appreciate ourselves, the more we’re able to welcome these delights into our lives, especially with those we love.

After all, when most people are quizzed about what they’d like more of in their lives. it’s to be happy and to experience love.

One of the many ways there are to do this is tuning in to what the specifics are for lighting ourselves up from the inside – based on our own cellular fingerprint.

And finding ways to practice this self-care, especially given the digital age we live in, sometimes starts with filtering our exposure.

Regular unplugging is a good thing!

Taking tech-free hours or even days is underrated. Creating these times of quietness allows reflection and literally calms our minds.

So, what does nurturing look like for you

It helps to be patient with ourselves while we figure out our own specifics.

For me, it’s actually many things, including –

  • Walking barefoot on the grass or sand (when it’s warm)
  • Going outside and breathing deeply
  • Listening to the birds
  • Enjoying the sound of rain on the roof
  • Tuning in to a fav podcast
  • Reading a book, especially out loud to Chris
  • Leaving a caring message for a friend (this one always makes me feel good 😊)
  • Hugging a loved one when we have the luxury of in-person contact

Cutting through the noise, finding what fits our scenario, and figuring out the self-care that helps us give to ourselves is a handy way to be fully present.

When you have a mo, I’m curious to hear about your preferred self-care steps.

In the meantime, keep sharing your sunshine, and I’ll see you on this week’s #AliveWithFi

1 In our current world of constant technology, sometimes the best thing we can do to help ourselves is to unplug: “it is a good idea to appreciate technology, but it’s a good idea to not be attached to it. We all need balance and we need to give ourselves permission to enjoy just being and enjoy each moment.” By taking a break from digital white-noise, we can practice nourishing self-care that fills us up so that we’re amped and ready to give to others.
