I’ve decided to stop kidding myself. And to stop pulling the wool over others’ eyes.

‘About what?’ I hear you ask.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve heard myself say a couple of words repeatedly. It’s something I’ve chimed-out; whether I’ve been asked how I am or how’re things going, or what I’ve been up to.

An innocuous-enough phrase that also pops up when I’m listening to colleagues, friends and family too.

Can you guess?

Yup – it’s ‘I’m busy’

Woman running with time

And I’ve realised that really I mean something else.

What I’m really saying is ‘I’m being scattered and disorganised so I’m running around from pillar to post’; or

‘ I haven’t prioritised’; or

‘That meeting I’m too busy for I don’t have the courage to say no to’; or

‘I’m tired and ready for a re-charge’; or

‘I simply need some space’.

So it’s time for me to step up and be open with myself about what’s really going on.

And to have the courage to tell the truth.

Take away I’m curious to hear if you can you relate to any of the truths I’ve been covering up with the excuse ‘I’m busy’?

Always good to hear from you; drop me a line (fi@fijamiesonfolland.com) or simply message me on FB.
